In light of some recent actions at some of our High School and Junior High events I wanted to share a reminder of our district policy on Fan ejections. If you are removed for any reason from an event home or away you must meet with the building principal and AD and complete the NFHS Sportsmanship course. There will also be subsequent suspensions from events as well. Remember we are there to support our student athletes and we represent our community while in attendance.
Below are the Spectator Conduct and Sportsmanship for Athletic and Extracurricular Events Conduct Expectations:
Spectators are invited and encouraged to attend Clinton Community Unit School District 15 athletic and extracurricular activities. All spectators are expected to display behaviors that promote sportsmanship and enjoyment of the game for students, coaches, officials, staff, and spectators. Examples of behaviors that are prohibited include, but are not limited to:
• Using vulgar, obscene, or demeaning expressions directed at participants, officials, coaches, district staff, or other spectators;
• Verbal or physical conduct that interferes with the performance of participants, officials, coaches, or staff;
• Verbal or physical conduct that is abusive or threatening and directed at participants, officials, coaches, district staff or other spectators.
If a spectator engages in prohibited behavior during an athletic or extracurricular activity the spectator may be removed from the event by school staff, security personnel, officials or any individual in charge of the event and will be suspended from attending District athletic or extracurricular activities for a set number of additional athletic or extracurricular activities up to and including the remainder of the season. If a spectator is removed for a second time during the school year, the spectator may be denied admissions to athletic and extracurricular activities for up to one year.
Before any person may be denied admission to a school event, as provided in this policy, the person has a right to a hearing before the Board. The Superintendent may refuse the person admission pending such hearing. The Superintendent or designee must provide the individual with a hearing notice, delivered or sent by certified mail and return receipt requested, at least 10 days before the Board hearing. The hearing notice must contain: 1) the date, time, and place of the hearing; 2) a description of the prohibited conduct; 3) the proposed time period that admission to school events will be denied; and 4) instructions on how to waive a hearing.
