As a reminder, we will stay on full remote learning district wide through Friday, Dec. 18th.
Starting Date and Expectations As we look toward second semester, it is our intent to continue with in-person instruction beginning on January 4th as stated on the school calendar. However, we will be monitoring the number of COVID cases in the county and community, but we will especially be monitoring cases of COVID or illness among our students and staff over the next few weeks. If we feel that there is too great a risk in starting on January 4th, we will communicate a new starting date. Please understand that our intent will be to have students in person as soon as possible.
Our second semester will contain the same schedule for each building as it did in the first semester with dismissal time at 1:30 pm for each school. The second semester will also include all of the same safety protocols as we did for the first semester. We will communicate any changes that need to be made as we go along.
Contacting District Nurses
Please contact our district nurses if you have any questions regarding medical issues. Also, please continue to report any positive tests or exposures in your family to our nurses. We are keeping accurate records to inform our decision making in regard to school decisions. You may reach Jill Martin at CHS (935-8337) and Shelly Constance at CES (935-6772).
Choosing In-person or Remote Learning
The district will continue to provide the 3rd party vendor for any families that choose remote learning for second semester. It will be the same provider as first semester. **Please note the following:
If you were on remote learning the first semester and plan to stay on it, contact your school office and let them know – You need to do this by Friday, Dec. 11th.
If you were on remote learning the first semester but want to switch to in-person learning, please contact your school office – you will need to do this by Friday, Dec. 11th.
If you were doing in-person instruction during first semester and want to switch to remote learning for second semester, contact your school office and let them know – you will need to do this by Dec. 11th.
**There will not be a time period for families to change after the 11th. Please make your decision and let us know. Last semester there was a period in which we allowed some students to change. However, there will be no such period of time for the second semester.
We realize that one week may not seem like enough time, but we have been in this experience for an entire semester. If you are not sure what you should do, please reach out to your building principal as soon as possible for assistance.
For those that choose remote learning through our 3rd party vendor, those classes for second semester will begin on Monday, January 11th.
