Re: Returning to School for 2020-21

At the Tuesday night Board of Education meeting, the CUSD 15 School Opening Plan was approved. It accompanies this letter.

It is our intent to open school according to the following dates approved by the Board last spring for 2020-21:

  • -  Monday and Tuesday, Aug. 17 and 18 – Teachers’ Institutes

  • -  Wednesday, Aug. 19 - first day for students K-6 and 9, and any new students to the district in grades 7, 8, 10, 11, 12 (for those that have chosen in-person instruction)

  • -  Thursday, Aug. 20 - all students K-12 (for those that have chosen in-person instruction)

We appreciate everyone’s patience as this process has unfolded. We also appreciate the fact that this is not an easy decision for many of our families to make whether or not to send their student to school. Let’s all be gracious to those that don’t share our opinions, and give each other space to come to terms with what this school year will be like.

The plan explains the basics of how the school year will begin. We will strictly abide by the requirements and best practices shared in the guidelines from the state. It is important to know that there are still many details left to be planned. Either your building principal or I will communicate those things as quickly as we get them planned.

For general questions, we are establishing a Frequently Asked Questions email that we will check and post updated answers to every couple of days. Here is the link for that if you would like to use it

We can’t wait to see the kids and get started!
